Good Catch
The Good Catch program is dedicated to bringing awareness to the role of local fisheries and the value of purchasing responsibly harvested seafood. The phrase "eat local" typically brings to mind rows of golden cornfields, asiles of strong peach trees and pastures of grass-fed cows, but eating local doesn't stop with the land. When it comes to seafood in South Carolina, local includes the coasts of North Carolina through the east coast of Florida. In order to be considered a "good catch," the fish must be harvested at the correct age, in a balanced quantity and during a specific season.
The South Carolina Aquarium's Good Catch Partners are comprised of restaurants, purveyors and caterers that have committed to serving a higher percentage of sustainable seafood sourced from southeast regional fisheries.
