Blueberry Basil Lemonade

What is a southern picnic without fresh lemonade? Blueberries and basil give a fresh, local twist to this familiar staple at the summer table.

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil; add sugar and stir until sugar dissolves. Transfer to 1 gallon container; add lemon juice and cold water to render 1 gallon. Stir until well-mixed.

Drop 5–6 blueberries into glass; add ice. Pour lemonade over ice, and garnish with basil.

  • 2 cups fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 gallon cold water
  • 1 cup of fresh blueberries
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
