Jeremias & Rachel Paul

Jeremias and Rachel Paul fell in love with coffee after having kids. Initially, they drank it for the much-needed caffeine. Then, in their travels along the West Coast, they stumbled upon a café that served them a cup of black coffee so sweet and full of flavor that it changed their lives. Thus began their quest to recreate the perfect cup of coffee. The knowledge, innovation and excitement surrounding coffee spurred Jeremias to leave his 10-year career as a professor of photography and change his focus to roasting extraordinary coffee.

In 2016, Jeremias and Rachel opened Broom Wagon Coffee, a coffee roastery in the West Ashley neighborhood of Charleston. A little more than a year later, Jeremias placed eighth at the U.S. Coffee Roasters Championship, securing the highest ranking of a coffee roaster in the Southeast. Now, Jeremias and Rachel plan to merge their love for coffee with their respective backgrounds in photography, education and journalism to elevate coffee in the Southeast and beyond.
