It's time to crown the best southern fried chicken in Charleston. Join us for our 2nd annual Southern Fried Chicken Challenge! This culinary event will host local and regional restaurants as they compete to make the best, most delicious fried chicken in the area.
Sample tasty dishes from top chefs and restaurants, listen to live music, and help give tribute to our love of this Southern comfort dish. Bring your friends, family, and a chair or blanket, and get ready to spend an afternoon indulging in the best foods Charleston has to offer!
After discovering that one of downtown Charleston's best seafood restaurants served an amazing fried chicken lunch special each week, we were blown away. We wondered how many other restaurants and caterers might serve delicious fried chicken dishes that we didn't know about?
And so the Southern Fried Chicken Challenge was born, and the hunt for Charleston's best fried chicken began. Welcome to the Southern Fried Chicken Challenge.

The Southern Fried Chicken Challenge brings together the best of Charleston and the Low Country’s community & culture, featuring Food, Live Music and Shopping fun for the whole family!
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
Southern Fried Chicken Challenge Competition — More than 30 restaurants from around Charleston will compete for the title of Best Southern Fried Chicken. Our panel of judges will select the winner, but you can sample them yourself and vote for your favorite in our “People’s Choice” competition. There will also be special sub-categories for side dishes that fried chicken shouldn’t be served without, like Best Biscuit, Best Gravy and Best Pie.
Southern Fried Chicken Challenge Junior — A separate fried chicken competition for Charleston area high school culinary students!
Chicken Run — Obstacle course race for servers representing restaurants competing in the Southern Fried Chicken Challenge. Winner will be selected by a total of race times combined with “popular” vote held on social media in the days before the event.
Mixology — Competing restaurants will nominate bartenders to decide who makes the very best cocktails Charleston has to offer!
